Record Of The Day…Sofi Tukker – Johny (Alex Cecil & Bob Gravity Remix)

We sit down with Alex Cecil the NYC based DJ and producer who’s been shaking up the NYC underground scene. As one half of the remixers who put their spin on the original Sofi Tukker track, we chat to him to find out more.

Describe the record in five words.

Funky, upbeat, playful, melodic, dark

What is it about the record that will appeal to the fans?

My unique flavour of underground, which I call “playful warehouse”.

How does it differ from your last release?

It is my first official release, but it is definitely a direct reference of what to expect from my upcoming EP.

What was the inspiration for this release?

The task of turning a radio indie favourite, into an underground banger.

If you had the chance to play this in any club, which would it be?

I’m thankful I’ve already had the opportunity to play it inside two of my favourite venues, which happen to have the best sound systems in all of NYC — Output and Cielo. But I can’t wait to rock it at in some of my favourite places like Kater Blau in Berlin and Stereo in Montreal.
